By accessing or using GeoUtil ("the Service"), including our website at geoutil.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

Description of Service

GeoUtil is a free online geography toolkit that allows users to:

• Measure distances and calculate areas on interactive maps
• Convert between geographic file formats (GeoJSON, TopoJSON, KML, GPX, CSV, Shapefile, WKT)
• Merge, split, and minify geographic data files
• Extract and convert coordinate formats (DD, DMS, UTM, MGRS)
• Use bearing and azimuth calculation tools
• Access historical borders and territories from various time periods
• Export and share geographic visualizations
• Process geographic data entirely in the browser

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

License and Restrictions

Limited License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

Prohibited Uses

You agree NOT to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
• Reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell, or exploit any portion of the Service without express written permission

Geographic Data

• Map data is sourced from OpenStreetMap (Leaflet) and other geographic data providers
• You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of any data displayed or converted
• Territory boundaries and names may be disputed and are shown for educational purposes only
• File conversions are performed client-side in your browser

User Content

Content You Upload

When you import geographic files (GeoJSON, TopoJSON, KML, GPX, CSV, Shapefile, etc.):

• You retain all rights to your content
• Files are processed locally in your browser and not transmitted to our servers
• You represent that you have the right to upload and process this content
• We are not responsible for the accuracy or legality of user-uploaded content

URL Sharing

• Shareable URLs may contain compressed tool state data
• URLs you generate may be publicly accessible to anyone with the link
• Do not include sensitive or private information in your tool configurations
• We reserve the right to remove or disable URLs that violate these Terms

Tool Usage

Fair Use

When using GeoUtil tools:

• Tools are provided for educational and professional purposes
• We do not guarantee continuous availability of all features
• Tool functionality may change without notice
• We reserve the right to modify or discontinue tools at any time
• Processing is performed in your browser for privacy and performance

Analytics

Geographic Data

• OpenStreetMap data is available under the Open Database License (ODbL)
• Map tiles are provided by Leaflet and respective tile services
• Historical territory data is compiled from public domain sources
• Third-party libraries used are subject to their respective licenses

Trademarks

"GeoUtil" and related marks are trademarks of GeoUtil. You may not use our trademarks without prior written permission.

Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services:

Accuracy

• Geographic data may contain errors or inaccuracies
• Territory boundaries shown are for educational purposes and may not reflect current political boundaries
• Historical borders are approximations based on available historical records
• Population and area statistics are estimates from various sources
• We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information

Availability

We do not guarantee that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• Defects will be corrected
• The Service is free from viruses or harmful components
• Results obtained from the Service will be accurate or reliable
• File conversions will be error-free or preserve all data

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

• WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TrueSize, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

• Your violation of any rights of another party
• Your uploaded content or shared URLs

Geographic and Political Neutrality

• Territory boundaries and names shown are for educational and illustrative purposes
• Display of any territory does not imply political endorsement or recognition
• We acknowledge that borders and territorial sovereignty are subject to international law and may be disputed
• Users should refer to official sources for authoritative geographic and political information

Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to:

• Change features, functionality, or tool capabilities
• Update geographic data, maps, and territory information
• Impose limits on file sizes or usage

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and TrueSize regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.

No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights hereunder without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
